** The key to leading with influence is understanding yourself
------------------------------------------------------------

Are you a leader with no direct reports? Someone who manages processes, products or platforms on your own?
If so, we have just the training — and teacher — for you.
Poynter adjunct faculty Kathy Lu runs our Lead with Influence ([link removed]) program, and she wrote this week ([link removed]) about the experience of helming this unique training.
She said, "It’s an honor to be the program lead. Three times a year, I meet dozens of journalists working in various roles across all types of media and we dive into ideas and methods that can help them be more effective in their jobs.
"We learn about ourselves through assessments and reflections, how to consider and react intentionally to others’ behaviors, how to manage up and across, and to advocate for ourselves."
You can read more ([link removed]) about Lu's experience and apply for the program ([link removed]) yourself in one of three cohorts, including one designed for women and nonbinary journalists.
Read on for more ways to improve your career in 2024.
