Friends,

In the wake of what has been a tough week, we wanted to call out some good news as Virginia's General Assembly wraps up this year's legislative session.

Since our investments over the past two cycles helped Democrats retake both chambers of the Virginia legislature last November, the General Assembly has passed a flurry of historic bills. This is what is possible when we invest energy and resources into taking back key GOP-held state legislatures:

-- Common-sense gun control
-- Automatic voter registration
-- Minimum wage increases for thousands of workers
-- Collective bargaining for public employees
-- Passage of the Equal Rights Amendment
-- Enhanced LGBTQ protections
-- An end to extreme abortion restrictions
-- Hair non-discrimination
-- Marijuana decriminalization

Indeed, the weeks ahead might be different for our communities, our schools, and our work. While we are first and foremost committed to ensuring the health and safety of our team, we're not going to take our foot off the gas pedal when it comes to holding Republican state legislators accountable and continuing the charge to retake key state legislative chambers.

We can build on the progress we've made in Virginia and win back power in state house chambers across the Sun Belt that are poised to redraw congressional seats in 2021 and reshape the political landscape for the next generation.

We have the power to step up to this fight and reclaim our democracy. At this critical moment, when so much seems uncertain, it's more important than ever that we remain united in our shared values and pursuit of a more just and fair democracy.
