Jack, over the past 12 months, Daily Kos has been diligently working to get our advertising revenue back on track while also maintaining our strong grassroots fundraising base. Thanks to these efforts, we achieved two consecutive months of profitability in October and November!
However, despite the good news of the last two months, and the cost-cutting measures we put into place earlier in the year, a difficult path lies ahead. We will miss our 2023 revenue goals, and our annual loss will be larger than we anticipated 12 months ago.
Our advertising and list-building income has declined more than expected for the second year in a row, but there are other worrying trends. While our fundraising has increased this year, small-dollar donations are down across the rest of the progressive movement and Democratic space. Major donors and funders have also significantly reduced their giving. As a result, there is now less money for progressive organizations and Democratic candidates to spend on our advertising and list building services.
Financially, we are not out of the woods. In order to keep producing the quality of content and effective actions you have come to expect from us, we need to head into the new year on a stronger financial footing. We need to raise $207,302 by the end of the year to reach our annual goal.
Please support the country's largest progressive news and activism with a donation of $5 to Daily Kos today.
