Friends,
I know there's a lot of anxiety and worry about the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) -- and we're feeling it here on our team, too.
Tragically, Colorado reported its first death due to COVID-19 today. My thoughts are with the person's family and friends during this very tough time.
We all have a responsibility to do our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and protecting our most vulnerable Coloradans, which is why we are canceling our upcoming campaign events for the time being.
Our campaign is about bringing change to Washington, and I'm sad that we can't be out making our case in person in all 64 counties right now, but that just means we'll have to get creative.
Please be on the lookout for updates from our campaign on virtual events and ways you can be involved remotely. In the meantime, please follow us and keep in touch on Instagram ([link removed]), Twitter ([link removed]), and Facebook ([link removed]).
I'm incredibly grateful for the leadership of Governor Jared Polis and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, as well as the tireless work of our health officials, doctors, and nurses who are on the front lines of keeping our state healthy and safe.
The president did the right thing today by declaring a national emergency, but we still have a lot more work to do here. It's no longer a question of if Americans and Coloradans get infected -- it's a matter of how many and how prepared we are to give them the care they need.
We need significantly more resources on the national level to test anyone who needs it. We need action to help workers and businesses who are hurt economically. We need to ensure our students who rely on free and reduced lunch have access to meals while schools are closed. We need to expand telehealth services. We need to take care of our most vulnerable. We need support for our frontline first responders. And costs should never be a barrier to getting care.
Our actions in the coming days and weeks are crucial for how manageable this virus will become. We need to continue to practice preventative measures -- it's vital we all do these to protect ourselves and our most vulnerable people.
Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. (That's about one verse of your favorite song.)
Don't touch your face!
Stay home if you are feeling sick.
Avoid large gatherings and practice social distancing.

We will get through this together -- and let's all do what we can to help our neighbors.
Thank you,
John-------
