Volunteers of America

Friend,

I hope you and your family are doing ok and have not been severely impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.

I want to update you on the actions and safeguards that Volunteers of America is currently taking around Coronavirus, for our staff and our clients, and, as a trusted human services organization that you support.

Our mission has always been to help and comfort people in need, so the safety of our clients is top priority. And in this Coronavirus environment their safety has become paramount, especially since we work with thousands of seniors and many other people whose health and immunity may be already at risk.

Our teams are working around the clock to keep our facilities and our supportive services as safe as possible. We are especially careful at our healthcare facilities where staff have been implementing safety protocols from the earliest signs that Coronavirus posed a threat, and we are closely monitoring residents for the first signs and symptoms of the virus.

Even before Coronavirus, our staff were systematically trained using strict protocols for such emergency scenarios, and now we are activating those emergency plans.

The people we serve include many without a societal safety net, and who are highly vulnerable. We are right now caring for homeless and elderly from Washington state to New York and everywhere in between, providing for basic needs like meals, shelter and a warm bed, and other support services.

Additionally, many children across America rely on schools as their only meals. With many schools closed indefinitely in response to the Coronavirus, it will be up to organizations like VOA to step up and help families.

Your donation supports our COVID-19 response and other life-changing services.

The needs will no doubt strain our resources. But we are committed to those who depend on us. VOA has always been an integral part of the community fabric, for nearly 125 years. And always alongside a generous, caring donor network. Together we’ll meet this challenge, applying innovative and battle-tested response, honed from over a century as one of America’s most time-honored care providers.

Thank you for all you do with us, and prayers for your health and safety!

God bless,

Mike King, President and CEO
Volunteers of America

P.S. In these unprecedented times, our mission will prevail: Caring for those in need. If you can, please contribute today. Your action and compassion will save lives.
