This year marked an expansion of Justicia Lab’s mission beyond our longstanding innovation work directly related to immigration policy and the immigration system to applying our expertise in America’s legal system, partnership building, and developing public interesting technology to address access to justice for immigrant workers.
Starting with the launch of ¡Reclamo!, the most comprehensive platform to date to help immigrant workers fight back against wage theft. We're so proud of the work we were able to do with workplace justice partners like Make the Road New York to build the first iteration of the tool. To date we have been able to:
- Help immigrant workers in New York state’s building and construction sector to calculate and file over $1.5 million in wage theft claims
- Build partnerships and helped train over 50 non-lawyer advocates at worker centers across New York State.
- Raise awareness of the wage theft issue in America through national op-eds, interviews, and press coverage in Telemundo, NPR, Fast Company, and The Guardian.
Can you make a donation of $25, $50, or even $100 to help us bring ¡Reclamo! to more workers across America?
We hope you’ll join us in this movement to make labor more just for everyone.
With Gratitude,
Rodrigo Camarena
