John,

As we approach the end of the year, we reflect on our pivotal role in shaping drug policy reform, notably our contributions to the "Drug Legalization Handbook," published by the Reason Foundation and the National Coalition for Drug Legalization. This groundbreaking report, a collaborative effort with esteemed partners, marks a significant milestone in our journey towards a rational, compassionate approach to drug legalization and regulation.

The report advocates for ending prohibition and legalizing and regulating all drugs, highlighting the failures of the drug war in managing overdose deaths, substance use disorders, and violent crime. It proposes various policy ideas for a post-prohibition world, including repealing the federal Controlled Substances Act and focusing on regulated markets, harm reduction, and restorative justice.

Our involvement in this handbook illustrates our unwavering commitment to ending the failed war on drugs and advocating for policies that prioritize public health, safety, and justice. The handbook echoes our vision for a future where drug policies are grounded in evidence and compassion, not punishment.

As we continue our mission, your support is more crucial than ever. Your contributions enable us to participate in such influential projects and push forward meaningful change in drug policy. Every donation, big or small, fuels our advocacy, research, and educational efforts.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission.

In solidarity,

Lt. Diane Goldstein (Ret.)
Executive Director

P.S. Please consider making a year-end contribution to LEAP. Together, we can keep driving progress in drug policy reform, ensuring a safer and more just society for all.

Amos Irwin, Program Director at LEAP, shares his deep-rooted connection to the organization–reflecting on how a presentation by LEAP's founder, Jack Cole, during his freshman year in college, profoundly impacted his views on the war on drugs and its societal implications, leading him to a longstanding commitment to LEAP's mission.

Beck highlights LEAP's strategic efforts, including deploying police chiefs for advocacy tours, which contributed to the unexpected passing of the legalization measure.
