One of the most significant accomplishments in the history of human health was achieved with the completion of the Human Genome Project, an international effort to identify, map, and sequence all of the genes of the human genome. How did this project begin? What were some of the key challenges that needed to be overcome? What is the legacy of the human genome project today?

This event will feature Eric Green, Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the U.S. National Institutes of Health; Aristides Patrinos, Chief Scientist and Director for Research at Novim Group and a Visiting Scholar at NYU Langone Health; and Carlos Bustamante, a Professor in the Department of Physics, the Department of Chemistry, and the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley.

Join the National Association of Scholars on Thursday, December 14, at 1 pm ET for "China's Soft Power Strategy: Influence in American Education."

How has China's strategy of soft power in education shifted since the tarnishing of its brand in the form of Confucius Institutes, and since COVID-19 more broadly? Does China seek to sway America’s perceptions overall vs. elites? Are their programs used as a cover for other activities?

In this webinar we will discuss China’s interest in U.S. primary education in the context of its national outlook and objectives. We will cover China’s goals in the U.S. and compare this to its activities elsewhere in the world with equivalent programs.

This event will feature Jimmy Quinn, the national security correspondent for the National Review and China specialist; and Ian Oxnevad, senior fellow for foreign affairs and security studies at the National Association of Scholars.

Join the National Association of Scholars on Friday, December 15, at 3 pm ET for "Restoring the Sciences: Climate and Weather Extremes."

Is the climate apocalypse nigh? The belief that it is has become deeply embedded in the public consciousness, aided by a steady drumbeat of articles in the mainstream media and pronouncements by world leaders. Yet, more than a century of reliable data show that the frequency and severity of heat waves, floods, droughts, hurricanes, tornadoes and wildfires show no long-term warming trend.

This event will feature Ralph B. Alexander, a physicist and science writer concerned with the abuse of science that swirls around emotive topics like climate change, vaccines, genetically modified organisms and agriculture. His books Science Under Attack: The Age of Unreason and Global Warming: False Alarm, focus on the troubled frontier between science, politics, economics, activism, and religious belief. He is the proprietor of the blog Science Under Attack.
