Former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy announced he’s resigning at the end of this month instead of finishing out his term.

McCarthy will be remembered for the 15 rounds of voting to elect him as Speaker of the House in January – and for his downfall at the hands of the far-right extremist he catered to.

But here’s why this matters in CA-27:

McCarthy has been one of Mike Garcia’s most steadfast funders. Between his super PAC and fundraising committees, he has boosted Garcia to the tune of millions of dollars over the years.

Garcia just lost a key ally, and everyone is taking notice.
