Hope all is well and want to let you know District 15A residents are invited to a series of town hall meetings Sen. Gary Dahms and I are co-hosting this Thursday.
Here is the schedule:
- Tracy ~ 7:30 ? 8:30 a.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, 336 Morgan St.
- Marshall ~ 9:15 ? 10:15 a.m. sponsored by the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce at the YMCA Multipurpose Room, 200 South A St.
- Canby ~ 11 a.m. ? noon at the City Hall Council Chamber, 110 Oscar Ave. N.
- Madison ~ 1 ? 2 p.m. at the City Hall Auditorium, 404 ? 6th Ave.
- Dawson ~ 2:30 ? 3:30 p.m. at the City Building, 675 Chestnut St.
- Granite Falls ~ 4:15 ? 5:15 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, 641 Prentice St.

Economic trouble on MN horizon?
The state?s recent economic forecast likely will be a major point of discussion during this week?s town hall meetings. Last week, state officials issued a report projecting a $2.4 billion surplus in Minnesota for the current biennium ? and a possible shortfall down the road.
In short, officials indicate the projected $2.4 billion surplus will be consumed by higher spending already in law over next two years, raising questions over a potential shortfall for the biennium starting in July 2025.
Warning signs about our state sinking into the red just months after the state had a $17.5 billion surplus are quite jarring for Minnesotans. It underscores the need for balance in St. Paul after Democrats last May raised taxes by $10 billion and increased state spending by 40 percent despite a $17.5 billion state surplus. One-party rule has our state budget so far out of balance that even their record tax increases may not be enough to cover their spending spree.
An updated February forecast will serve as the official fiscal legislative framework for the 2024 session and it will be interesting to see what transpires between now and then.
