It’s Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s birthday on Sunday

Before she turns 87 this weekend, join us in wishing Ruth Bader Ginsburg — the ACLU Women’s Rights Project founding, gender-discrimination fighting, progressive Supreme Court justice — a Happy Birthday, today.

Justice Ginsburg has had one hell of a life for over eight decades and counting. She relentlessly led the fight against gender discrimination when she was directing the ACLU’s incredible Women’s Rights Project, argued impactful gender discrimination cases before the Supreme Court, and, since joining the bench, has been calling B.S. and giving voice to progressive values for over 25 years.

When the Supreme Court halted a vote recount and effectively handed George W. Bush the presidency, Justice Ginsburg broke from the majority and declared a crowd-stopping “I Dissent.” And when her colleagues said that pay discrimination victim Lilly Ledbetter could not sue her employer for paying her less than they paid men doing the same job, Justice Ginsburg used her position on the bench to advocate for equal pay for equal work.

We need more justices like RBG on the bench: progressive lawyers who built their careers by fighting for everyone to have equal rights under the law. As we celebrate her birthday, we’re reaffirming the need to rebalance the Supreme Court so that progressives like RBG can continue to protect the rights of women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg has spent her career fighting to make the law work for all of us, not just the rich and the powerful. Before she turns 87 on Sunday, wish RBG a happy birthday and give her one of the best birthday presents possible: pledge to support the next generation of progressive justices.

Thank you so much, seriously. We know she’ll be so happy to hear from you.
