The life is that of Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson. Sgt. Robinson served in Iraq. He didn’t die in combat. Sgt. Robinson died fighting cancer after being exposed to toxic smoke from military burn pits. His name is on the Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act, the PACT Act. MAGA Rep. Kevin Hern voted NO to the PACT Act. That NO vote is the reason I’m running for Congress in Oklahoma’s First District to defeat Hern. I fully support the PACT Act because I believe America owes Veterans a sacred obligation.



There are many lives behind this Bill. The lives of over 3.5 million Veterans exposed to burn pits. They fought in America’s wars and then fought Congress to get this Bill passed. They fought for years, backed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the Wounded Warrior Project, and many others to get Congress to act. But Hern wouldn’t act to help Veterans and he voted NO to the PACT Act. Fortunately, a Democratic majority acted and on August 10, 2022, President Biden signed the PACT Act into law.



Thanks to the PACT Act, the 290,000 veterans in Oklahoma will get screening for toxic exposure and health care services for respiratory illnesses and cancers associated with burn pits, Agent Orange, or contaminated Camp Lejeune water. Over 15,139 Oklahoma Veterans have filed PACT Act related claims.



Sgt. Robinson said Congress “Needs to realize that their decisions affect the lives of individuals. One ‘YES’ or ‘No’ vote for them can drastically change an individual’s life, like my own.” Sgt. Robinson died in 2020. He was 39 years old. He left behind his wife and 6-year-old daughter. I’ll never forget what he said. From my first day in Congress, his words will be with me.



I’d like you to remember Sgt. Robinson’s words when you’re in the voting booth. Remember your vote can drastically change the lives of Americans. Oklahoma deserves a representative in Congress with Oklahoma values. A representative who believes our country has a sacred obligation to our Veterans and their families. With your support, we will win this election. We have work to do to end Veteran homelessness, secure jobs for Veterans, and invest in mental health and suicide prevention for Veterans.
