Honoring First Lady Rosalynn Carter
First Lady Rosalynn Carter was a great lady, an outstanding Georgian, a Navy spouse, and a distinguished humanitarian who elevated the role of First Lady for generations to come. Her dedication to public service made her an inspiration to everyone, and our nation is thankful for her grace and bipartisanship as First Lady.
On Tuesday, I joined Rep. Sanford Bishop in hosting a bipartisan Special Order in Mrs. Carter's honor on the House Floor. May we continue to carry her patriotic legacy as we serve the people of our nation.

Combatting Biden's Green New Deal Agenda
Last week, I was proud to join colleagues in passing the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act, which is another step in combatting the Biden Administration's unrealistic and ridiculous efforts to convert all Americans to electric vehicles (EVs).
President Biden is attempting to impose a de facto ban on the sale of new vehicles that use gasoline and other liquid fuels and mandate the sale of electric vehicles instead as part of his radical Green New Deal agenda.

Protecting our Universities from Foreign Influence
The less opportunities that our foreign adversaries have to influence our universities, the better for our national security. I joined my colleagues in supporting the Defending Education Transparency and Ending Rogue Regimes Engaging in Nefarious Transactions (DETERRENT) Act, which brings much-needed transparency, accountability, and clarity to foreign gift reporting requirements for colleges and universities nationwide.
This legislation closes reporting loopholes and provides transparency to Congress, intelligence agencies, and the public by measures such as lowering the foreign gift reporting threshold for colleges and universities from $250,000 down to $50,000, with an even stricter $0 threshold for countries and entities of concern.
This legislation passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 246-170.
