Dear Neighbors,?
?
I hope you?ve been enjoying these unseasonably warm December days! As we wait for the snow to stay, I?m incredibly excited to find out what our new state flag will be. ?
This session, I authored legislation to redesign the Minnesota state flag and state seal, creating The State Emblem Redesign Commission?s (SERC) to oversee the process. The citizen-led commission received 2,123 flag design submissions and 398 seal designs and have narrowed the field to six flag designs. This week, the SERC will meet to select a new flag. They will use the following guidelines of what makes a ?good? flag to help make their selection: ?
-
Keep it Simple.?
-
A child should be able to draw it from memory. ?
-
Use meaningful symbols. ?
-
Use two or three basic colors. ?
-
Be distinctive. ?
I would like to thank everyone who sent in a submission. There were many, many excellent options to represent our great state. Here are the current frontrunners:?
I want to hear from YOU about which one of the finalists you think should be chosen as our state flag. You can vote for your favorite below! I?ll share the results of our poll on social media once our new state flag has been chosen!?
