Friend,
If we have any hope of saving horses from slaughter, the time to act is now.
Slaughter is a terrifying end for tens of thousands of horses each year. Purchased in the United States and then taken hundreds or thousands of miles across our borders to be slaughtered for their meat, horses are crammed into crowded trucks for more than 24 hours at a time, without food or water. Some become injured or even die in transit.
Make a $20 contribution to the Humane Society Legislative Fund today and support all our fights to end horse slaughter and protect all animals!
Horses who survive the trip to slaughterhouses in Canada or Mexico face a cruel death. Horses are difficult to stun, and as a result, they often endure repeated blows and sometimes are conscious during dismemberment.
I know you want to save horses from this terrible fate, and together, we can. The Save America's Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act would permanently ban domestic horse slaughter in the United States and stop the export of American horses for slaughter abroad. The SAFE Act has been introduced in both the House and Senate, but it will be a long hard fight to get this bill over the finish line.
Our goal is to get this bill passed before the end of the 118th Congress. That means we must bring pressure to bear on Congress now.
You can help give horses a chance at long, happy lives by fighting for them and the protections that all animals deserve through your contribution! Please give today.
