CYD Chapter & Caucus Chartering Due by December 31st!

Good Evening California Young Democrats,

Happy holidays! I write to share important news: CYD has finished and finalized the results of the recent internet vote, thereby approving new CYD chapters and ratifying hundreds of endorsements for Democrats ([link removed]) !

ALL NEW & RENEWING CYD CHARTERING ([link removed]) DUE BEFORE 2024

Additionally, and even more importantly, I want to highlight that NOW is the time for all existing and new CYD chapters, and many of our caucuses, to resubmit their chartering ([link removed]) in order to maintain their status as an official chapter or caucus of the California Young Democrats! All required chartering information and dues must be submitted ([link removed]) for all CYD chapters and most CYD caucuses before December 31, 2023, at 11:59pm. Per CYD Bylaws ([link removed]) and as a result of CYD being unable to convene ([link removed]) our General Session meeting at the recent Endorsing Convention in Sacramento, the CYD State Leadership Committee conducted ([link removed]) an internet vote ([link removed]) starting at 10AM on November 26, 2023, until 11:59 PM on December 3, 2023, in order to consider approving new chartered chapters from the CYD Rules Committee, the Endorsement Recommendation Consent Calendar, and endorsing Young Democrats running for County Central Committees.

103 out of 175 eligible CYD State Leadership Committee votes were cast and voted to approve all items considered with the exception of one (1) of the considered County Central Committee endorsements, which was requested to be postponed by 41% of voters. CYD Bylaws ([link removed]) require that any item for which 25% or more voters request be postponed, be postponed and considered at the next in-person meeting of the CYD State Leadership Committee. I am excited that CYD was able to finalize our endorsements for so many great Democrats ([link removed]) and that we are continuing to build new CYD chapters which will help elect Democrats all across the state! If you are an officer of an existing or new CYD club or caucus, please make sure you work with your fellow chapter and/or caucus officers to complete your necessary CYD chartering documents ([link removed]) before the upcoming December 31st chartering deadline!

INTERNET VOTE NOTICE: Finally, the CYD State Leadership Committee (SLC) will hold another internet vote starting January 2, 2024, at 9am, until January 9, 2024, at 11:59pm, in order to consider additional endorsements for Young Democrats running for County Central Committees and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and to consider the recommendation of the CYD Political Affairs Committee meeting during the recent Endorsing Convention for CYD to dual endorse Barbara Lee and Katie Porter for United States Senate. Per CYD Bylaws, if 25% of eligible and voting SLC members vote to postpone any item considered, it will not be considered until our next in person meeting, which is not planned until after the March 5, 2024, Primary Election and is to be announced.
