Friend,

Like many people across our district and country, news of COVID-19, or coronavirus, has made me and my family uneasy. I encourage you to follow health guidelines to protect yourself and others (wash your hands thoroughly, avoid touching your face, and practice social distancing), but I encourage you to log off when necessary and protect your mental health, too.

In the meantime, to address this crisis head-on, I’m hoping that Democrats and Republicans can come together and do what’s right to pass the Families First bill package, which would provide:

• Free COVID-19 testing
• 14 days paid sick leave
• 3 months paid family leave
• Expanded unemployment insurance
• Increased Medicaid and food aid funding

Our economy has not been working for all Americans, and the outbreak of coronavirus is only going to make things worse. So many families in Minnesota and across the country live paycheck-to-paycheck without health insurance or a savings account to fall back on in case of emergency.

It’s up to us to rally together and ask our policymakers to keep us safe, especially those of us who are most vulnerable.
