Dear friend,
As we continue to learn more about COVID-19 coronavirus disease, I wanted to take a moment to update you on the current situation and ensure that you have the most up-to-date information on Congress’ response, and on how to protect and care for yourself.
Last week I worked with my colleagues in the House to pass a funding package that will protect public health. Today, the House is crafting an even larger package for response and prevention focused directly on providing support for America’s families, including free coronavirus testing, paid emergency leave, and clear protections for frontline workers.
I have also been in regular communication with Pennsylvania's Secretary of Health to discuss how we should coordinate and work together most effectively to stem the spread of the disease.
My top priority during this outbreak is to prevent the spread of COVID-19, provide affordable and accessible treatment for those infected, and provide support for affected American workers and families.
COVID-19 is a respiratory virus that is spread from person to person and symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. You can help prevent the spread of disease with the following actions:
-
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
-
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
-
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
-
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces daily
-
Stay at home if you’re sick
-
Don’t shake hands and use a non-touch greeting
If you develop any symptoms related to COVID-19, please contact your healthcare provider.
I urge you to visit the Centers for Disease Control’s website to stay updated as information continues to develop, and to learn more about how you can best protect yourself and your family: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
I will continue working across the aisle to act decisively and address this outbreak. As always, the health and well-being of the people of Pennsylvania’s Seventh District are my top priorities.
Susan
