Folks, this is going to be a longer email, and it’s important, but if you don’t have time to read it all, you can show your support for this grassroots campaign now by chipping in a few bucks using the button below.
I’m proud to be a fourth-generation Coloradan. I grew up in Jefferson County, and became the first person in my family to graduate high school, and the first to earn a college degree. But growing up wasn’t easy — to help get by, I started cleaning houses at age 12, worked behind the counter at a bagel shop and grocery store, and waited tables at restaurants to put myself through college. The odds were stacked against me — but thanks to the support of incredible Colorado public schools and teachers, I was given an opportunity, and I wasn’t going to waste it. I first decided to run for office over ten years ago because I wanted to help create a Colorado where everyone could have the opportunity to succeed, no matter their zip code or their family’s circumstances. Now, I’ve brought that fight to Congress, and I’m working every day to bring results and investments to regular Coloradans just like me. There aren’t a lot of families like mine in Congress. And to be honest, I think Washington would work a whole lot better if our leaders really understood what it’s like to work and to struggle at a young age. But no matter what obstacles are in my way, I’ll never stop fighting for the progress that Coloradans deserve — but I need your support to help keep up the fight.
