I know it’s going to take bold strokes to change the heart of Congress. That’s why I feel honored to have Marianne Williamson’s endorsement. She understands this is the time for action.
In addition to securing Marianne Williamson’s endorsement, my campaign was endorsed by the New York Progressive Action Network (NYPAN). NYPAN is a grassroots progressive organization that grew out of the Bernie Sanders movement. NYPAN has done incredible work mobilizing our communities the last 4 years. I’m glad to join them in the fight for a safe, just, and sustainable world.
"NYPAN advocates for people-powered campaigns that actively fight on behalf of communities, and we support candidates who pursue an uncompromisingly progressive agenda once in office. We endorse Lauren Ashcraft in NY-12 because she demonstrates the ability to mobilize "leadersip from below," and values while also leading conversations around the needs of her constituents. Plus, she is a breath of fresh air much needed in NYC and national politics."
Earlier this month, I held my second Reddit AMA. Here are some of my favorite questions.
Q: Your district has one of the highest per capita income levels in the US. What message do you have for your would-be wealthy constituents?
A: I meet with people in all corners of my district, which includes some people who have a lot of wealth. One of my most vivid memories of any door-knocking experiences I have had so far is someone asking, "Why don't you tax us more?" Everyone benefits from a society in which there is less homelessness, poverty and extreme inequality.
There are less divides than we think. I will serve each constituent fully and equally.
Q: How do you plan on winning your primary? A: We have been knocking doors for an entire year! We are doing this with people power and a movement of volunteers. We also have the highest number of individual donors of any challengers in the race and [are] truly feeling the momentum.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING CANVASSING: In a previous draft, this was where we had a link to sign up for canvassing to help us gather signatures. However, with NYC in a state of emergency and to prevent the rise of COVID-19 cases in NY-12, we have decided to respect the health and well-being of our supporters and our team. Until the state changes regulations, we must continue to gather signatures using only protocols that do not involve door-to-door canvassing, due both to the law and the threats of legal challenge from one of the most well-endowed opponents. The best way for you to support our campaign is by making a donation of $5 which pays for 80 calls to voters and keeps them and us safe from any contagion risks.
