At their fourth debate on Wednesday, the GOP’s presidential candidates latched onto spinning climate policy, or the “woke climate agenda” as they call it, as a spooky conspiratorial force Americans should be scared of.
This is madness, folks — the GOP’s Fossil Fools are so deep in the pocket of Big Oil and Gas that they not only won’t take action on climate change, but they are determined to manipulate it into a fearful narrative they can use to drum up support.
The debate started with Ron DeSantis calling Environment, Social, and Government investments (ESG) an attempt “to use economic power to impose a left-wing agenda on this country.” [FACT CHECK: These are the investments that could save millions of lives from the ravages of climate change!] He also said that Democrats “want basically to change society without having to go through the constitutional process.”
And the debate concluded with Vivek Ramaswamy preaching that the “climate change agenda” is “a substitute for a modern religion! We are flogging ourselves! And losing our modern way of life! Bowing to this new god of climate!”
