Though the future was bleak for God's people, Isaiah declared a light would shine in the darkness . . .
The ACLJ Faith & Freedom Drive Free Prayer Guide

John,

When the prophet Isaiah promised a Messiah would come, Israel was in a dark place as the Assyrian invasion loomed in the future. Though the future was bleak for God's people, Isaiah declared a light would shine in the darkness:

The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone. (Isaiah 9:2)

This "great light" was the Light of the World who would rescue His people. At Christmastime, we celebrate the Light who came to earth that special night in Bethlehem to show the way to the Father. And this Light didn't just bring salvation to the Jews but also the whole world.

Right now, Israel finds herself in another dark period. But the ACLJ can be a light to Israel as we defend her both in America and across the world. We also remain vigilant in bringing the rest of the Israeli hostages home. Please pray for us as we continue to be a light shining in the darkness for Israel.

Prompts for celebrating God's faithfulness can be found in our all-new ACLJ Faith & Freedom Prayer Guide. In addition to prayer requests for the ACLJ's mission, you'll find devotions centered on the Christmas season.
