Statehouse News
From the Office of Representative Allison Russo

** A Note from Representative Russo
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Neighbor,

As more COVID-19 cases (commonly known as coronavirus) are being confirmed throughout Ohio, I want to provide some information about the actions state leaders are taking to ensure the health, safety, and security of everyday Ohioans.

I am continuing to work with state and local officials who are monitoring the situation on the ground in our communities across the state. Aggressive actions are being taken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, including cancelling large gatherings, closing all K-12 schools until at least Friday, April 3, and limiting nursing home visitation. Citizens are being asked to be proactive and limit their exposure as much as possible by staying home if you are sick, avoiding contact with other sick people, and practicing safe social distancing.

Due to concerns of COVID-19, some polling locations for Ohio's March 17th Primary Election have changed. Check your polling location at voteohio.gov/coronafacts, and consider voting early ([link removed]) to avoid large crowds. Poll workers are also in high demand right now due to the outbreak. To sign up to be a poll worker, visit OhioSoS.gov/DefendDemocracy.

The COVID-19 situation in Ohio will be rapidly evolving over the next few weeks. Be on the lookout for accurate information from trusted sources such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) ([link removed]) or the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) ([link removed]) . You can also call the Ohio COVID-19 hotline at 833-427-5634 or visit www.coronavirus.ohio.gov.

While I understand many of the recent actions and cancellations are very disruptive to our normal lives and routines, the steps we take now are prudent and necessary in order to slow the spread of COVID-19 ([link removed]) and to prevent our health care system from being overwhelmed with sick patients. These aggressive actions will save lives.

Please take precautions to keep yourself healthy, and do not hesitate to reach out to my office if you have any questions or concerns. We are all in this together, and I know we will get through this challenging time better and stronger as a community.
