I’m never going to be afraid of telling you the hard truth, John, and here it is: It’s dangerous to be a woman in politics.
A recent study from Princeton University and the Anti-Defamation League found female officials are 3.4 times more likely to receive online harassment than their male counterparts.
And it’s not just digital threats, either. In the past few years we’ve witnessed a violent intruder show up to Nancy Pelosi’s home with rope, zip ties, and a hammer; a man with a gun stalk Pramila Jayapal outside her house; and a thwarted plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Then there’s what happened to me: A coordinated cyber-attack by far-right political operatives and media outlets meant to shame me out of office.
After the attack on her husband, Nancy Pelosi said she was worried it would discourage other women from running for office. That’s something I worried about, too — and it’s not unfounded.
When we say women running for office need extra support, we mean every type of support. There are so many invisible challenges and dangers that come with being a woman in politics, and that’s why I started HER Time: To help women overcome them.
But I can’t do it alone. So I’m counting on you, John, to help me support women running for office with a donation of any amount today.

If women don’t feel supported, they may never make the tough decision to run for office. They need to know we have their backs.
Thanks for your support,
