Hi John,
I write to you today knowing that we are all watching the spread and impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) with uncertainty and anxiety about what it means for the health and security of ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities.
Whether it is worries about public safety, concerns about childcare and school closures, determining how our workplaces may be changing and the impact on economic well being, I want you to know that you are not in this alone, and that my first priority will always be the health and safety of our communities.
Nothing is more important.
That is why we have decided -- out of an abundance of caution and following guidance from the CDC and Governor Janet Mills -- to postpone our scheduled in-person events until further notice.
From the beginning, we have focused this campaign on meeting with Mainers and hearing directly from them about the challenges they face. From roundtables discussing the issues that matter most to them -- like lowering the cost of prescription drugs, supporting small businesses and protecting a woman's right to choose -- to Suppers with Sara across the state, this campaign is about electing a Senator who will listen to Mainers and always put them first.
Over the coming days and weeks, my team will be putting together plans to continue to reach out to Mainers while taking the steps necessary to protect the public, our volunteers, supporters, and our staff.
In the meantime, follow along with us on Facebook for more updates: [link removed]
We'll be following recommendations and guidance from the CDC, and I recommend you visit their website for the most up-to-date information: [link removed]
With best wishes for your continued health and safety,
Sara
