Dear
John,

Imagine if, for the first time in your life, you could vote in a
free election, voice your opinion without fear, or send your daughter
to school. By making a gift now in celebration of Human Rights Day,
you can help share these basic rights and so much more.

Four decades ago, President and Mrs. Carter started the
groundbreaking work of teaching everyday citizens and grassroots
activists how to advance their human rights. Your generosity today
will continue their proven methods.

Your Gift Will Help People Like Elisabeth »

After her family's land was seized by a mining company in the
mineral-rich Democratic Republic of the Congo, Elisabeth Banza Mwemena
was forced to make and sell charcoal to survive. She and her neighbors
had no legal recourse and nowhere to turn until The Carter Center
stepped in to help.

Now, she and others in her community have been
compensated for their land, and local human rights organizations have
learned how to expose and combat exploitation.

As President Carter has said, "human rights, justice, and
the feeling of self-worth are the 'seeds of peace' the
world needs so badly." With your gift today, we can bring relief
to places like the Democratic Republic of the Congo and so many other
nations. You can tell people in need they are not alone and show them
the way to peace.

Thank you for observing Human Rights Day today in the most
meaningful way possible. Your compassion is building hope for
everyone.
