To create the conceptual framework for the WJP Rule of Law Index, our research team drew extensively on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As a result, the Index provides a global scorecard for many of the Declaration’s core principles.
Unfortunately, the 2023 Index shows that fundamental rights have weakened in more than three-quarters of countries in recent years.
