John,
When the war in Ukraine escalated in 2022, the IRC's incredible community of supporters came together to help power an impactful humanitarian response in the heart of Europe. Now, children and families in Ukraine are facing a bitterly cold winter as the fighting continues — and as humanitarian aid is running dangerously low.

"Funding shortages really hamper humanitarian stability to assist more people..." - Zoe Daniels, IRC's Senior Director for the Ukraine crisis

The IRC's Zoe Daniels was recently invited by PBS News Weekend to discuss the urgent humanitarian needs in Ukraine. You can hear directly from Zoe by watching the segment here.

In addition to lacking basic needs like warm clothing and health supplies, many Ukrainians are facing a massive mental health crisis.
Children's lives have been disrupted. As Zoe says, more than 3,000 of Ukraine's educational facilities have been damaged since February of 2022, depriving young people of access to quality education and spaces safe from the fighting.
And this year, experts predict that Ukraine will face an even more severe winter than last year. At the same time, the humanitarian response is dangerously underfunded.
I hope you’ll learn more about the IRC’s work in Ukraine and efforts to meet civilians’ humanitarian needs by watching Zoe’s conversation with PBS News Weekend.
And if, as a follow-up, you can make a special emergency donation today — to help families in Ukraine and crisis zones around the world — we would be so appreciative. During this time of immense need, and with winter on the horizon, your gift will be MATCHED.
Our vital work in Ukraine is not over, John. That's why we are thankful to have people like you by our side.
— Hank

P.S. As I write this email, the IRC is mobilizing support for children who have been evacuated from Kupyansk in eastern Ukraine, where fighting has been intense. You can help bring safety to children in crisis zones worldwide by making a gift to the IRC today. For a limited time, all gifts will be MATCHED. |
