John, I'm the only Black woman in California's race for Senate – and this is why that matters:
For decades, Black women have been the backbone of the Democratic Party. Black women swung the 2020 election to Biden over Trump. We have been on the front lines of election after election, working to ensure that all voters have their voices heard at the polls.
And yet, we still remain severely underrepresented.
My mentor, Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to Congress, taught me that when there isn't a place for you at the table, you bring a folding chair, and you make sure that it’s there to stay. And that's exactly what this campaign is about, John.
When people think about what a senator looks like, they don’t think of a Black woman with decades of experience like me – they think of someone who looks like my opponent, Adam Schiff. You wouldn't even believe how many times I've heard this on the campaign trail.
But we have the opportunity to change that, John.
I'm ready to take my fight for justice to the Senate, where my lived experience as a Black woman making change for Californians will give a voice to those who have been voiceless for far too long. And with 40% of California voters still undecided, this is truly still anyone's race – and my momentum is building.
So if you’re ready to help me win this race, make history as just the fourth Black woman to serve in the Senate and continue my work to build a progressive future for all of us, will you chip in $5 now?
