It’s Sen. Chuck Schumer — have you heard about what’s happening in Florida?

My friend Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, a former Congresswoman and a gun safety advocate, has launched her campaign to defeat Sen. Rick Scott in Florida.

This is a major moment for Debbie’s campaign. The latest polling already shows that this race is a statistical tie. With a huge outpouring of grassroots support tonight, Debbie has the opportunity to pull ahead in the polls. But if she falls short of her $75,000 weekly fundraising goal, Scott could take the lead.

Debbie needs our help to hit this critical goal, which is why I’m asking: Please, will you donate $5 or more before midnight to help Debbie flip Florida blue and protect our Senate majority?

If you’re not convinced, let me tell you about Debbie’s story. When she was 14, her family came to America from Ecuador in search of a better life. Debbie’s mom worked double shifts to afford rent for their one room apartment. When Debbie turned 15, she started working at the local doughnut shop to help make ends meet.

Because of their relentless hope and hard work, Debbie graduated college, helped expand health care access in her community, and eventually became the first South American immigrant elected to Congress.

Friend, Debbie’s story of hope, perseverance, and opportunity is America’s story.

Rick Scott, on the other hand, has spent his time in the Senate working to destroy the opportunities that make the American dream possible.

Now, with Scott’s approval rating tanking and the incredible energy behind Debbie’s campaign, we have an extraordinary opportunity to win Floridians the leadership that they deserve. And if we defeat Scott, Democrats can expand our ultra-slim Senate majority.
