Hi Friend —
Prescription drugs are much more expensive in America than they are in other countries, and even drugs that have been around for decades continue to rise in price because of Big Pharma’s greed. Meanwhile, big pharma companies make billions of dollars in profit every year. It’s not right.
The pharmaceutical industry has been able to use its money and lobbying power to successfully stop any major legislation that would put patients over profits from passing. But the tide is turning.
In passing the Inflation Reduction Act, Democrats secured drug price negotiation and a $35 monthly cap on insulin costs for seniors. Both of these measures are historic victories for patients who rely on life-saving medication.
But those achievements aren’t the end, they’re just the beginning. I’m going to continue working hard in the Senate to pass legislation that will help lower prices for everyone by closing loopholes, expanding drug price negotiation, and securing price caps on medications folks need.
This is only possible because of the support of folks like you. We all have to continue rallying around patients until we create a country where no one is afraid to see the price of their medication at the pharmacy counter.
Thanks,
Peter
