John,

Lauren Boebert introduced a bill yesterday that would force taxpayers to pay for the cost of cleaning up oil and gas wells abandoned on federal lands.

Citing the Biden Administration's "war on domestic energy," Boebert proudly promoted her bill that would cost taxpayers an estimated $18 billion in cleanup costs.

Colorado voters care about domestic energy production, and they care about the economy—but not at the expense of the environment. And especially not when the policy in question would simply shift a financial burden from private enterprise to the public.

There are more than 81,000 documented orphaned wells across the country, and Colorado is in the midst of a fracking boom. When wells go dry or become unprofitable, who should shoulder the cost of cleaning them up: the private company that received 100% of the profits or the taxpayers who received none?

Only a tool of the oil and gas lobby would push this ridiculous policy, and that is exactly why it is being pushed by Boebert—who is starved for campaign cash and facing a primary challenge and a rematch with Democrat Adam Frisch.

As Boebert panders to the oil and gas industry for campaign checks, her voters need to know where her loyalties lie. Can you chip in $15 or more to help us get the word out about Boebert's plan to sell out the people of Colorado for her own personal benefit?
