Dear Valued Ally,

Thanks to your support, this has been an incredible year of victories!

Below are just a few highlights of what you've accomplished this year when you've taken action, donated, and spread the word.

Snapchat Makes Numerous Safety Changes We Requested

Snapchat made numerous substantial safety changes as a direct result of being named to the 2023 Dirty Dozen List. These included:

  • improving detection and moderation for sexually explicit and exploitative content
  • improving parental controls
  • creating dedicated resources on sexual abuse and exploitation.

1st U.S. State to Protect Prostitution Survivors While Criminalizing Exploiters

In a historic move, Maine became the first ever U.S. state to decriminalize people exploited in prostitution while maintaining or increasing criminal penalties on sex buyers, pimps, and brothel-keepers.

NCOSE's Public Policy team worked with local advocates to facilitate the passing of this bill.

Pornhub's Motion to Dismiss Denied—Twice!

The NCOSE Law Center is representing survivors in two lawsuits against Pornhub. In these cases, Pornhub distributed and profited from child sexual abuse material and/or non-consensually filmed nude material of the survivors.

Pornhub's motion to dismiss was rejected in both cases!

Google Automatically Blurs Sexually Explicit Images

After a decade of us asking for this change, Google FINALLY agreed to automatically blur all sexually explicit search results in Google Images.

This means children (and adults!) won't unexpectedly stumble on pornography!

Discord Makes Numerous Changes We Requested

After the third year of being named to the Dirty Dozen List, Discord finally made numerous safety changes we recommended. These included:

  • rolling out parental controls
  • significantly improving their content policies
  • requiring email verification by default

Apple Automatically Blurs Nude Images for 12 and Under

Apple is now automatically blurring nude images and videos for kids 12 and under in iMessage, FaceTime, Air Drop, and Photo pickr.

We have been asking them to do this for yearsand are still pressing on them to extend the protection to all minors!

THANK YOU for being a champion for change!

To keep the progress going, please consider making a donation which will be DOUBLED by a generous matching grant.

Gratefully,
