[[link removed]]Greedy plastic corporations are placing profit over the planet and human health.
It’s not just the actual plastic that is harmful but also the process it takes
to produce it. Plastic manufacturing facilities burn through huge amounts of
fossil fuels and release massive amounts of pollution. This exacerbates the
climate crisis and puts nearby communities -- primarily communities of color and
low-income communities -- at significantly higher risk of cancer and other serious illnesses.

Despite the dangers that come with plastic production, consumption, and
pollution, Big Plastic and Big Oil have been steadily bumping production to a
staggering 9% increase every year. Yet less than 6% of plastics are recycled annually in the United States.
