John,
This week marks the 30th anniversary of the mass shooting on the Long Island Rail Road commuter train, which killed 6 people and injured 19. Among those who were killed was former Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's husband and her son, who was injured.
Over the years, gun violence has devastated the lives of thousands of Americans. And I know this is true: Americans are united in that we need to put an end to senseless gun violence. I’m proud to be endorsed by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, who, throughout her career, fought for gun reform on Capitol Hill.
We need leaders in Washington who will lead on gun violence prevention because this is not a partisan issue but rather a matter of protecting our communities. We can no longer wait.
I will fight for gun reform in Congress starting DAY ONE because nothing is more important to me than the safety of our communities today and in the future.
Thank you,
Laura Gillen
