In his storytelling style, Biden claimed that at Archmere Academy, he was a formidable "6 foot, 158-pound flanker back" in football and a state scoring championship runner-up. “I wanted to play lacrosse, but you had to choose between lacrosse and football,” Biden asserted. “You couldn’t play both in the same season… I was the runner up of state scoring championships. Don’t laugh man.” Biden added, “As they say in football, I got soft hands.” However, social media users quickly debunked the tale, pointing out a significant discrepancy. Archmere Academy, where Biden attended high school, did not have a boys' lacrosse team until 1993, which was 32 years after Biden graduated.
