I’ve been reflecting on this past year, and I have to just tell y’all: It was a historic year of action.
Because of you, we passed two bipartisan life-saving bills in the PA House, with more on the way. We initiated inspections of firearm dealers with the coordination of local sheriffs. We launched an innovative new storytelling project linking survivor stories with gaps in the system. And, we mounted a historic challenge at the state supreme court to allow local communities to enact reasonable, life-saving policies.
And, we’re not done yet.
If we work together, 2024 will be a stunning year of saving lives from gun violence. We need to raise $100,000 by the end of the month to keep up the pressure.
I’m personally motivated every time I hear someone’s story and know that we have the ability to prevent these senseless deaths.
We’re advocating for Trooper Rougeau, whose death could have been prevented by Universal Background Checks.
For Andrew, whose nephew was shot by a friend who was playing with an unsecured gun, since our state does not have a Child Access Prevention law.
And, for my dear friend, Alicia, who lost a loved one to a self-inflicted firearm but might have been saved by an Extreme Risk Protection Order.
So many of you are saying enough is enough. The momentum is building within our state, and we are magnifying your voice in the halls of the Capitol and across the Commonwealth.
We have made historic strides this year and — with your help — we can do even more this coming year to save lives. Let’s break our record and make 2024 the Year of Impact.
Will you join with us this holiday season and give to make our communities safer?
Gratefully,
Adam Garber Executive Director CeaseFirePA
