Dear John,
Happy holidays from our family to yours! During this special time of year, it’s important that we all take time to reflect and relax with our loved ones.

Last night, my family celebrated the first night of Chanukah, an eight day Jewish holiday celebrating the human spirit. Chanukah reminds all of us the value of perseverance in the face of adversity. As I think back on all that our state and our nation have endured over the past few years, I’m reminded that we are strongest when we stand together for a common purpose.
My Jewish heritage is extremely important to me. As the granddaughter of a Holocaust victim, I learned from a young age what can happen when we turn away from one another. Growing up, my father instilled in me the importance of social justice and the need to look out for one another – which ultimately pushed me to go into public service in Vermont.
This holiday season (and always), I’m grateful for Vermont, I am grateful for our communities, and I am grateful for you.
Wishing you peace, joy, and hope this holiday season,
Becca Balint
