Oklahoma,

Americans know that Joe Biden is responsible for the worst border crisis in U.S. history. Just yesterday, 12,080 migrants illegally crossed our southern border— that’s a new single-day record. House and Senate Republicans have been united throughout this government funding process: we will not vote to advance any supplemental aid that does not prioritize our own border security. On Wednesday, Senate Republicans made good on our word by voting down Leader Chuck Schumer’s insufficient national security legislation. We remain committed to working towards a deal that includes meaningful, substantive border security as the first priority for the American people. During our Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing on the dangers of fentanyl this week, I made it clear that the needs of Indian Country are bigger than politics. As a member of the House, I worked directly with the Trump Administration on the Opioid Reduction Task Force. As your Senator, I will work with anyone --Republican or Democrat -- to lock up drug dealers, get tough on crime, and protect our Tribal communities. You can watch a full video of the committee remarks here.

The Lugert-Altus Irrigation District (LAID) serves as the local partner for the W.C. Austin Project in Altus, Oklahoma to provide water to the City of Altus, Altus Air Force Base, 25,000 people using rural water districts, and to farmers harvesting 48,000 acres of cotton crops. On Wednesday, we talked about the importance of this irrigation district and how we will continue working with the Altus community to ensure infrastructure costs are affordable and water remains accessible.

Last week, Team Mullin attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new telehealth booth in Sulphur, OK, located inside the Mary Parker Memorial Library. The Sulphur telehealth booth is the second to be installed with AARP grant funds in 2023, with the first recently opening in Tishomingo’s library. This new service will improve access to telehealth health services and outpatient appointments for Sulphur residents.

Energy resilience ensures our military installations are able to continue operations in the event of a local, grid-wide, or national energy supply disruption. This week, I joined my Oklahoma delegation colleagues in sending a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, demanding answers on the delays in energy production at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. This week, I joined Fox News' 'Your World' with Neil Cavuto to discuss Biden administration talks on establishing a task force to safeguard ships in the Red Sea from potential threats posed by Iranian proxy forces. Recent threats from Iran, Russia, China, and North Korea demonstrate a coordinated effort by our adversaries to test U.S. resolve, especially under a weak president. We must return to the principles of the Reagan Doctrine, emphasizing peace through strength. Check out the interview here.

Thursday marked the 82nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, a solemn day to remember the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives and honor those who continue to answer the call.

As we pay tribute to the valor and sacrifice of those who served at Pearl Harbor, we are reminded of the resilience and strength that define our nation. The events of that historic day serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of our shared commitment to freedom and security. Let us honor the memory of those who lost their lives by standing together, united in our dedication to upholding the principles that make our country strong.
