John,
Voter suppression tactics are the elephant in the room when it comes to getting more folks running for local office and seeing more wins for rural Democrats. The right to vote is a fundamental American freedom – but some Republicans see it as a huge obstacle.
Today, Movement Labs is proud to stand with other like-minded organizations to tell Congress to pass federal legislation to finally tackle voter suppression once and for all.

Conservative federal judges recently gutted another component of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), ruling that "only the federal government — not private citizens or civil rights groups — is allowed to sue under a key section of the landmark civil rights law."
On top of increasingly restrictive voting laws and gerrymandered maps, the deck feels stacked against us.

But, there are two voter protection bills that could be voted on and passed in Congress right now: the Freedom to Vote Act (FTVA) and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (VRAA). Together, they will restore and modernize the VRA, set national standards to increase access to the ballot box, neutralize partisan and racial gerrymandering, and protect our elections from dark money and outside interference.
We can't move the needle forward to get more folks elected to local office if we're not doing everything we can to fight for our right to vote. Sign the petition: Congress must protect our freedom to vote by passing the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act!
Thanks for standing with us,
Movement Labs
