Peace comrades —
Here’s what’s going on this weekend:
SATURDAY 12/9: Join us at the Brake Light Clinic and Health Fair this from 11 am-2 pm at AL Davis Park (2600 Lasalle St). Mutual aid volunteers are aiming to beat the previous record by changing brake lights in 20+ cars. Health justice volunteers are offering health screenings, connection to community resources, and planning exciting new projects for 2024. If you want to join us, please fill out this volunteer form.

SUNDAY 12/10: Louisiana goes ALL OUT FOR PALESTINE, starting at 4pm at Canal Place (333 Canal Street). Join us to show our city that Louisianans stand for Palestinian lives, and for turning the tax dollars that currently fuel war atrocities into resources for rebuilding and uplifting our New Orleans community. Show up and bring friends!

MONDAY 12/11: In response to the city’s escalation of illegal violence against our city’s unhoused residents, we are holding an urgent Unhoused Encampment Sweep Legal Observation Training. Join us at 7pm at Parish Hall (2533 Columbus Street) to learn best practices on how to monitor the police and other city agents who have been unlawfully dismantling tents and discarding unhoused people’s personal property throughout the city. This event will be hosted by New Orleans DSA, Renters Rights Assembly, Let Us Not Forget, Southern Solidarity, and the Louisiana National Lawyers Guild. All are welcome, however, we are specifically inviting individuals who would be available to volunteer for observation shifts on weekday mornings. Register here: https://bit.ly/SweepLO
