Kicking off the holiday season!

Home for the Holidays:
Help us reunite families this holiday season! Donate to reach our goal of $3,000 to post bond for individuals in immigration detention.

Your donation will help us release individuals from immigration detention, where they often spend months without seeing their families. Let's join together to make their reunion possible and bring joy during this special time of year.

PROGRAM UPDATES:
Caravan of Love

This past month we visited Bosco shelter for our November Caravan of Love event. This space houses about 70 people, all of whom are women and children. This shelter is part of Proyecto Salesiano, complete with a kitchen, school, computer lab, and a church.

We had a small but mighty group of volunteers which helped us drive into Tijuana to deliver donations in kind such as hygiene items, non-perishable food, clothes, and more. We couldn’t have done this without them and Psicologos Sin Fronteras, B.C., and all of you who were unable to attend, but still found time to purchase donations from our wishlist. Thank you for your continued support!

You can volunteer for our next Caravan of Love by emailing [email protected] and donate to our Shelter Aid program here ([link removed]) . ([link removed])
SDG&E Day Laborer Outreach

We are so grateful to have SDGE visit us for the third year in a row as part of their SDGivE program. They participated in a Day Laborer Outreach where visited the Lemon Grove location and helped build and distribute 60 packages. There included lunch, water, work gloves, hats, hygiene kits.

We remain committed to assisting the day laborer community and continue to be a resource for whatever they may need. While this includes sustenance and work necessities, we also provide moral support and hope to bring more visibility to this community.

We are so appreciative of companies who take the time to learn the needs of their communities, and going above and beyond to participate in events like this. If your company or organization would like to join us for presentations or volunteer events you can contact us at [email protected].

Whistleblower alleges failures in medical care at U.S. border facilities
A senior U.S. Customs and Border Protection official Thursday filed a whistleblower complaint with Congress alleging his supervisors failed to adequately monitor the agency’s medical service contractor for staffing shortages, unsafe care and other problems before the May death of an 8-year-old girl in U.S. custody.

Attorneys for Troy Hendrickson, a 15-year CBP veteran, told lawmakers in a letter that their client was reassigned by supervisors after raising concerns about the track record of medical contractor Loyal Source Government Services. The company is a finalist for a new five-year, $1.5 billion CBP contract.

Hendrickson’s concerns about Loyal Source included what he described as 40 percent staffing deficits, employees working without proper clearances and licenses, and billing errors resulting in overpayments of millions of dollars, among other issues, according to his attorneys.
