I’m working to protect the rights and well-being of ALL people, including transgender students and people across the country.
The despicable attacks on the rights of LGBTQ+ people, especially transgender youth, have only worsened in GOP-controlled states across the country — but I just took two new actions to fight back and protect the rights and well-being of ALL.
In Idaho, Republican lawmakers are trying to stop transgender students from using restrooms and other school facilities that correspond with their gender identity. I joined 21 other attorneys general in an amicus brief to oppose this blatant and unlawful discrimination, because every child deserves a safe and inclusive environment.
I also led 20 attorneys general in issuing an amicus brief in support of transgender rights and equal access to healthcare by challenging Florida’s law that bans Medicaid payment for the treatment of gender dysphoria. No one should ever be denied access to lifesaving medical care for simply being who they are, and we’re fighting to stop Florida from denying a vulnerable community the healthcare benefits that they are eligible for under federal law.
Both of these laws are part of a dangerous wave of discriminatory legislation across the U.S. targeting transgender Americans, especially children and young people. I will not sit idly by while right-wing state governments threaten the physical, emotional, and psychological health of transgender people.
If you’re with me in this fight, add your name to join me in standing with the transgender community against these malicious attacks from the GOP.
ADD YOUR NAME
No one should be discriminated against or harmed by their government because of their gender identity. As California’s Attorney General, I will always support the rights, safety, and well-being of transgender people and the LGBTQ+ community at large.
Thank you,
Rob
