New Tommyfield Market site impresses traders Traders at Tommyfield Market joined Oldham Council Leader, Cllr Arooj Shah, this week to celebrate a major milestone on the development of the market's new home.
The steel frame, which will form the new market hall, is now being put in place on Parliament Square.

Rick Whitmore, owner of Meat in the Middle butchers, said: "It’s looking really impressive. I’m excited about the entrance coming in from Spindles and going down through the market. I think it will be superb when it’s all built."
Oldham's town centre's regeneration will unlock hundreds of millions of pounds in investment, as well as 1,000 new jobs and 100 new apprenticeships.

Have you seen our Christmas animation?
Â
Last week, we launched our brand-new Christmas animation for 2023 which you can watch now.
Â
Councillor Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “We are sure you will love our heartfelt story showing that friends and family are what matters at Christmas.
“This year our animation stars Oldham’s mascots Ollie and Millie and tells a story of love and friendship conquering all, even in the hardest of times. Our lovely town centre is also shown at its best, hosting the best free Christmas events and offering a great Christmas shopping experience.
“Once again, our animation is created by a local business and represents the true Christmas spirit of Oldhamers. We hope you enjoy it as much as us and we wish you all the best at this special time of year.”
