John --

Last month Greenland lost more ice than it normally would across a whole year.

In fact, new data shows that the ice shelf lost 11 billion tons in just one day. This is its largest single-day loss in recorded history.

The reason? Although we’re in the middle of winter here in New Zealand, globally, July is set to be declared the hottest month ever recorded.

This is bad news.

Scientists warn us that if we don’t stop the planet warming by 1.5C we could see a significant increase in extreme weather, extreme migration and extreme poverty across the globe.

We need to listen.

If we want to protect our people and our wildlife from the severe impacts of climate change, we must act now.

Our Government has introduced the Zero Carbon Bill to enshrine the 1.5C target into law, and we want it to get as much support as possible across the house. To do that though, MPs need to hear just how important this issue is for New Zealanders.

Will you take action today and sign our petition ensuring that climate action is high on the political agenda?

A short note on donations:

Election 2020 is fast approaching and we’re relying on your support to secure a second term for Jacinda and the team. Every year, National receives large donations from a small group of very wealthy individuals. Labour is proud to be the party of the people and we’re funded by small donations from thousands and thousands of passionate supporters like you.

Will you be one of our generous donors, John? Whatever you can afford — even if it’s only a few dollars — will make a difference and help us prepare a winning campaign. Together we can protect the change our Government continues to lead and keep fighting for a more equal and fair New Zealand. Please donate today. Thank you.
