The year hasn’t been without challenges, but we’ve pushed forward.

Dear John,

As I look back at 2023, I can’t help but feel immensely grateful for what we’ve been able to achieve.

The year hasn’t been without challenges—from tragedies along the border to stalemates in Congress—but we’ve pushed forward, tackling immigration from all angles.

Thanks to supporters like you, this year we:

  • Pioneered groundbreaking solutions to the toughest immigration challenges by publishing and advocating for our 13 comprehensive recommendations for building a safe, orderly, and humane asylum system.

  • Led fact-finding delegations to the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona, California, and Texas to evaluate the current migration situation and see how local communities are responding to asylum seekers.

  • Sued Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over the state’s new anti-immigrant law on behalf of the Farmworker Association of Florida and other impacted individuals.

  • Shaped the national conversation around immigration, with the Council’s subject matter experts and resources appearing in 1,342 news stories across publications like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Univision, and NPR.

  • Gained a new tool to broaden our country’s access to STEM talent when the State Department designated the Council to be able to directly sponsor foreign STEM researchers to come work at U.S. companies.

As we look back on everything we’ve accomplished, I’m hopeful for the impact we will continue to make, even in an uncertain election year ahead.
