Hi friend — Being an undocumented student means that I have fewer opportunities than my peers. It’s harder for me to access financial aid, or health insurance, find a part time job, and travel — all things my friends can do without a second thought.
I’m Katia, one of United We Dream Action’s leaders in Houston, Texas, and I want to share my story with you today.
So many aspects of daily life are impacted by your citizenship status.
A pathway to citizenship would allow my family to work in jobs that don’t exploit them. It would allow me to attend medical school and have the same opportunities as my other peers, regardless of citizenship status.
Right now, my family and I live in fear of being taken advantage of by our employers over our undocumented status. I live under the constant fear of detention or deportation to a country I’ve never been to.
That’s why I’m fighting for a pathway to citizenship with United We Dream Action, and we need your support now more than ever.
We need citizenship NOW! Make a contribution today to help us escalate our organizing tactics and demand President Biden and Congress pass an expansive, inclusive pathway to citizenship for millions.

Being undocumented in this country means being forced to hide a large portion of who you are for the safety of yourself and those around you. If I let my guard down, I risk being sent to a completely foreign place I hardly know.
Thank you for standing with me and United We Dream Action in the fight to change that reality for millions of undocumented people all over the country.
Katia, United We Dream Action
