John, Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville has finally lifted his hold on most of the military promotions he’s been single-handedly delaying. It’s been almost a year, John. Almost a year of Tuberville brazenly putting party over country, all to make a political statement rather than do his job. He has caused severe damage and compromised our national security. But Tuberville is still holding military promotions for four-star generals. Anyone who has served knows that these leaders are crucial to overseeing key commands — and holding up these 11 four-star generals will continue to compromise our ability to keep our country safe. His actions have caused many of those serving our country unable to perform their duties as they were left in limbo for months. It’s unacceptable. When it comes to something as fundamental as keeping our country safe, it should never be about Democrats or Republicans. It should be about serving the American people. When my fellow soldiers were in distress on the front lines, nobody ever asked what party they belonged to. I’m grateful Sen. Tuberville’s blockade is partially over at last — but his partisan games with our national security should have never happened in the first place. That’s not how we did things in the Army, it’s not how we do them in Maryland, and it’s not how we should do them in Congress, either. Elevate, Wes Moore
