Democracy, safety, and a better future for our kids are on the line in this election — and that’s why I’m proud to endorse my friend Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in the race to be Florida’s next senator.

Debbie has fought to keep communities safe and delivered real results to prevent gun violence in Florida. I know this because she worked with me to launch Giffords Florida and build the infrastructure to elect gun safety leaders up and down the ballot across the state.

She has been a leader in building a Florida that is free from gun violence — and for Debbie, this movement is personal. Debbie lost her father to gun violence and has been one of this movement’s most tireless fighters ever since. Meanwhile, her opponent Sen. Rick Scott is beholden to the gun lobby and has voted with them in the U.S. Senate time after time. It’s clear — Florida needs a champion like Debbie as its next senator.
