The Supreme Court supported, 5 votes to 3, the Trump administration in lifting a lower court freeze on using $2.5 billion in Pentagon funds for border wall construction. Justice Stephen Breyer issued a split opinion, agreeing in part with both sides. Regardless of political affiliation, most Americans want our border to be secure. This will only happen if President Trump is reelected. Those who believe our nation will prosper long-term without a border are as wrong: without a national border there is no nation.
Mueller Hearings: Trump Wins Again
Democrats turned on Robert Mueller, their expected savior,immediately1 after his lack luster and embarrassing performance. It was a very large disappointment to Democrats, whohad hoped he would provide them with enough grist to continue theRussiaHoax.Impeachment gadflies, Jerry Nadler, D-NY, and Adam Schiff, D-CA, continue to buzzabout presidential crimes that do not exist. If the Mueller report took the wind from Democratic impeachment sails, then the hearings brought those sails crashing down.
Anti-Semitism Alive and Well in the Democratic Party
Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich, called for a Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions(BDS) resolution against Israel forracist policies. This resolution would stop US companies from dealing with Israel.Tlaibnoted it would be like the American boycott of Nazi Germany in the 1930s.2Ilhan Omar, D-Minn, was quick to agree.3Fortunately, that same day, the House voted against the pro-Palestinian resolution, 398-17. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FLA, chargedHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., with allowing the "radical, anti-Semitic minority in the Democratic Party" to set the agenda on Capitol Hill.4
Also, Sen. TedCruz, R-TX, has called for the House of Representatives topass an Anti-Semitism Resolutionlike the one passed in the Senate. This in response to the racism of freshman representatives,Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.5
El Paso and Dayton Shootings
Tragically, there were two shootings over the weekend. Democrats and the liberal media were quick to blame President Trump. This is ironic, because President Obama was not blamed for any shootings during his administration. Using their logic, we need to bring Jimmy Carter back – apparently, he was an awesome president because he had no shootings during his tenure.
Our response should be to pray for the families of the victims, and for President Trump as he continues to deal with malicious attacks.
STATE
Preserving History
Months after a Confederate plaque was removed from the Texas Capitol, our leaders have not decided its ultimate fate. Governor Greg Abbott and the historical preservative board voted in January to take down the Children of the Confederacy plaque. At that time, they gave citizens time to weigh in on its future. More than 300 comments were submitted. Let us not destroy our history but teach to the young so they will avoid past mistakes.
Wendy Davis Running for Congress Once More
Former Texas Congresswoman, Wendy Davis has announced she will challenge Rep. Chip Roy, for the 21st District. Astrong supporter for abortion, Davis has put her hat in the ring “because people's voices are still being silenced … I'm running for our children and grandchildren, so they can live and love and fight for change themselves."12Ah, the noble, compassionate Leftist! We suggest that Ms Davis meant to say she was running so the voices of those children and grandchildren not aborted would not be silenced. Those aborted don’t get a voice, life, or love.
Ms. Davis, however, has already stubbed her toe in Austin. She violated Texas Capitol rules in videotaping a campaign ad without asking permission first. A small thing to be sure, but it begs the questions: does Ms. Davis believe the rules do not apply to her?13
LOCAL
Homestead Exemption
Last month, San Antonio City Council answered the cries of homeowners for tax relief. They unanimously approved the homestead exemption. San Antonio was the only large metropolitan city in Texas to not offer a homestead exemption. Exactly what does this equate to in property tax relief? A whopping $28 per household that goes into effect on October 3, 2019. Please be sure to call your Councilman/woman to express your sentiments.
Nirenberg’s Alamo Promise
Mayor Nirenberg is advocating free tuition to Alamo Colleges for all high school graduates in Bexar County. It is estimated that the program initially will cost $2 million and $15 million once fully functioning. However, no cap has been proposed on the amount to be spent in future years, which will likely go well beyond $15 million.
Who will pay the bill for free tuition? As with other government spending, to some extent the answer will result in an ever-increasing debt for Bexar County. But the irony is that recent college graduates with substantial debt will be contributing to this new government-handout program. Many of us can remember when young men and women would serve their country in the military to earn a meaningful scholarship. But now generous scholarships are rapidly becoming just another entitlement.
Paid Sick Leave
A district court judge has delayed implementation of a paid sick leave ordinance until 1 December. The ordinance would require employers to provide one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, with an annual cap of 48 hours for employers with less than 15 employees and 64 hours for those with 15 or more. This would, essentially, raise the minimum wage of the employee. The ordinance has problems which have not been made perfectly clear by the media.8 It appears, however, that this is more than just a dispute between management and labor, as Ryan Cox, attorney working for the Texas Organizing Project (TOP) and MOVE Texas, would have us believe. Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton commented that “San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and other cities cannot be allowed to pass their own laws simply because they dislike state law or disagree with the judgement of the state’s elected representatives. The legislature established the minimum amount of compensation for workers and the Texas Constitution prohibits local municipalities from ignoring the Legislature’s decision.”9

Community Outreach: Lincoln Park – Adopt A Park
The RPBC has adopted Lincoln Park, located on the east side of San Antonio. This is an appropriate choice because this park is named after the President who won the Civil War - who was a Republican! Maintenance efforts include small-scale gardening and landscaping, tree planting, painting, graffiti removal, and litter pick-up. Our first clean-up day is October 5th at 9am. We need to know who will be participating by October 3, 2019, so that Parks and Rec can supply volunteers with what we will need to do the necessary work. Contact 210-824-9445, if you want to personally support this initiative.

COMMENTARY: TheProgressive Democratic Party
Since Woodrow Wilson was elected in 1912, the Democrats have called themselves the “Progressive Party.” An exaggeration at best, this title represents the primary foundational operating principle of the Democrats: hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is to proclaim a belief in moral, ethical, and social positions which one really does not believe in. This month’s newsletter illustrates this quite well.
House Judiciary Committee members, Jerry Nadler, D-NY, and Adam Schiff, D-CA, proclaim to uphold the Constitution, which guarantees if an American is suspected of breaking the law, that person must be charged with a crime and is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Yet, they declare our President guilty of collusion and obstruction, but have no chargeable crime, and demand Trump prove his innocence.
Freshman representatives,Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich, proclaim they abhor racism against persons of color, but not their own racism against Jews.
Mayor Nirenberg and the City Council supposedly believe in First Amendment rights but declare Chick-fil-A a symbol of hate because the company exercises Constitutionally protected religious liberty. Nirenberg also believes he can ignore Texas state laws at will. And, Wendy Davis does not want the voices of our children and grandchildren to be silenced, that is unless the mother wants to abort them before or perhaps just after birth.
Ignoring the US Constitution, which incorporates our Bill of Rights, for political expediency, twisting it to suit the tribalistic hate generated by identity politics, disregarding state law, and promoting unlimited abortion is not progressive. It is hypocrisy, do as I say, not as I do.In reality, Progressivism is a regressive social, political, and economic philosophy that fosters fear, envy, and hatred and promotes anarchy. Progressivism is not just un-American, it is anti-American.
